The Special Olympics provides an opportunity for youth with intellectual disabilities to participate in sport at various levels. Angus Systems is proud to be a sponsor of the inaugural Special Olympics Invitational Youth Games, hosted by the Toronto Regional Police, May 14-17, 2019 in Toronto. These Games, created to celebrate the Special Olympics’ 50 year anniversary, will welcome 2,500 athletes aged 13 to 21 from around the world. The event marks the first time that high school-aged athletes with an intellectual disability will have the chance to compete in an international sports competition.
Additionally, participating athletes will come together to compete in unified and traditional options in athletics, bocce, floor hockey, basketball, and soccer. Unified sport promotes social inclusion by bringing together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team.
We wish all the athletes participating in this year’s Youth Invitational Games the best of luck!
