Our success as a company is only possible with our talented employees. This month, we get to know Cornel, an Implementation Manager.
What is your education and background?
I started off studying computer programming at college, and later changed programs, graduating with a diploma in computer management. Although my education was more technical and I.T. focused, my work here is more project management and people-orientated. Having an I.T. background has definitely been an asset.
During the recent years I have taken a number of courses in project management, which have helped me with time and resource management.
What is your role at Angus Systems and what are your main responsibilities?
I am an Implementation Manager, so my primary responsibilities are training new clients on the software and implementing Angus AnyWhere within their company. I help clients understand how the software works, guide them through how to implement the product, and demonstrate how to best use Angus AnyWhere for their company’s needs. A big part of the job is staying organized and keeping the ball moving.
How have your responsibilities expanded since you started working with the company?
My responsibilities have changed quite a bit since I started at Angus Systems about 5 years ago. In the beginning, I was taking on smaller projects for clients, and now I am working on some of the bigger portfolios. So the volume of work and the level of difficulty and complexity of my projects have increased, which has helped me learn a lot more.
What do you like most about working at Angus Systems?
I really like the environment and the people that I work with – it feels like a big family. I get along with everyone here in the office. I like coming into the office and being around the people I work with.
What are some of the things you’ve learned while working here?
What I have learned since I have started here at Angus Systems is multitasking and how to manage a lot of moving parts at the same time. I have grown quite a bit learning about the software and all of its moving parts.
Is there some contribution that you’re proud of?
My biggest contribution is the volume of work I have been able to manage and being able to handle the larger clients. The clients’ satisfaction with the product and lack of complaints is something I’m particularly proud of.
Is there something that people would be surprised to know about you?
I used to be very involved in the Salsa dancing community for many years. I used to go dancing very frequently. I even met my wife on the Salsa scene. With the arrival of my son, my wife and I do not get out as much as before.
If you weren’t working at Angus Systems, what would you be doing?
I would definitely be travelling all over the world. I have travelled to Europe, South America, and the Caribbean. I would also be spending more time with my family, just enjoying life.
What are some of your personal hobbies and interests?
I play soccer, and I have been playing it since I was 5 years old. These days, I play in a recreational league, but growing up I played competitive soccer. I also enjoying doing projects around the house, from yard work to small renovations.
