This summer, we are excited to support four athletes participating in the 2017 Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Summer Games. Hosted by the Peel Regional Police, the Games will be held from July 13 to July 16, 2017 and will welcome nearly 800 athletes from across the province.
For many athletes the cost of attending the Games is too far out of reach. The Adopt an Athlete program helps provide the necessary assistance they need to compete in the Provincial Games by offsetting expenses related to transportation, meals, and accommodations. Participating in the Provincial Summer Games helps the athletes build confidence and create connections with their fellow athletes. Some of these athletes may qualify for the Special Olympics 2019 World Summer Games!
You can get acquainted with the athletes we are supporting:
- AnnMarie D’Hondt, Tillsonburg, Ontario. Golf.
- Austin Featherstone, Manitoulin Island, Ontario. Athletics.
- Corey Pecoskie, Peterborough, Ontario. Soccer.
- Katie Kranenburg, Port Elgin, Ontario. Bocce.
We wish the very best of luck to AnnMarie, Austin, Corey, Katie, and all the athletes participating in the summer games!
