On the evening of May 16th we were honoured to join Moorelands, one of our local community partners, to celebrate Moorelands Camp’s 100th birthday.
Moorelands Camp serves over 600 Toronto children from under-served communities and runs from July 1 to August 12 in Kawagama Lake, near Dorset, Ontario, approximately 2.5 hours north of Toronto. The camp gives kids (8 years to 16 years) the opportunity to enjoy the Canadian summer camp experience while developing the character qualities, skills and strategies that they need to be outstanding leaders and engaged citizens.
The evening featured young Moorelands’ campers sharing their own personal stories of the growth they have experienced because of the Camp, silent and live auctions, and of course, what’s a party without a cake? Or in this case Toronto’s largest collection of S’mores, smoking off the campfire.
It was a wonderful evening and we were thrilled to be part of the celebrations which raised proceeds that will send 102 kids to camp this summer!
