Every December we step up our fundraising activities with our Holiday Match Giving Fundraising aimed at helping those in need at a time of year when a helping hand is appreciated the most. This year’s fundraising which kicked off Monday, November 28, 2016 and wrapped up yesterday raised just over $28,000 for two very worthy causes that are near and dear to us all.
The Red Door Family Shelter – Every year families from the Angus Group of Companies attending the Children’s Christmas Party generously donate to our yearly toy drive benefiting the Red Door Family Shelter. This year, through our fundraising, we extended our support to this very important organization. The Red Door Family Shelter, located downtown Toronto, provides services for families and individuals in who need safe and supportive emergency shelter. These include women who are fleeing violence at home, families who are evicted, refugees, or young mothers who may have nowhere to go. The Red Door is one of the largest family shelters in the city (156 beds), providing shelter and support to over 500 families every year. Funds raised will assist with their numerous programs.
American Cancer Society – As we all know, cancer is a disease that affects many. Each and every one of us has either been impacted by it ourselves, or knows someone who has. Funds raised from this year’s drive will also support the American Cancer Society who is dedicated to helping persons who face cancer. The organization supports research, patient services, early detection, treatment and education.
We are delighted to help make the holidays a little happier for those not as fortunate and spread some cheer! Happy holidays!
