This month’s employee spotlight features Rob, a cycling, photography and aviation enthusiast!
What is your education and background?
My background is in project management and client relations. Prior to joining Angus Systems two years ago, I worked in the gift industry.
What is your position here at Angus Systems and what are your main responsibilities?
I am an Implementation Manager, this position requires me to work closely with our clients to ensure Angus AnyWhere is implemented successfully in their properties. This includes training the clients and making sure they are adept with our system. Some of our clients have never used a system such as Angus AnyWhere, while others are transitioning from a competitive solution. In this case there is data and accounting integrations as well as integral work that goes on between the Implementation team and the Data Services team. Collaborating between departments ensures all the moving parts come together in a timely fashion to exceed the client’s expectations.
What do you like most about working at Angus Systems?
For me it’s the culture and the management. We are managed in a professional manner, I personally believe this professionalism then gets reflected on to our projects and in turn, our clients. The management here is very encouraging and nurturing, I work with good people; my colleagues are very friendly and very willing to help out. Overall, it’s a solid team environment which I think is important for the success of any company.
What are some of the things you’ve learned while working here?
Being newer to this industry, I’ve learned a lot about the operational aspects of commercial real estate, something that I really took for granted. You come in the morning and all the lights are on, the air conditioning works, the trash is being taken out, maintenance is happening. This was very eye opening to me.
If you weren’t working at Angus System, what would you be doing?
If I was to say a quirky or nerdy thing about me, it would be aviation. If I wasn’t at Angus Systems I would probably be flying airplanes commercially. I’ve always had an interest in aviation, I currently have 25 hours in a Cessna 150. I love the theories and concepts that surround aviation, it’s just fun!
What are some of your personal hobbies and interests?
I do a lot of adventure touring on my motorcycle. I’ve been to places like South America, across Canada and most of the United States. Cycling is another hobby of mine, I finally took the plunge this year and bought a road bike. I went out and did some research, test rode some bikes, got in to it and I’m doing 100km rides now. I also do photography semi-professionally!
